UPDATE: 12:30 P.M – Smiths Falls Police have ended the lockdown.
Smiths Falls Police are on scene at Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute following a report of a gun being shown in a school hallway.
Police say two replica handguns have been seized and a youth is now in custody. All students and staff are reported safe.
The school remains in lockdown while officers conduct a thorough search as a precaution.
Nearby Chimo Elementary School has also been placed in lockdown.
In a message to parents and guardians, the Upper Canada District School Board says police are actively investigating and is asking families not to go to the school.
Students are secured in classrooms and are not permitted to leave at this time.
