At Carleton Place council’s recent committee meeting, planning staff brought forward a development permit request for 455 McNeely Ave.
The proposal would see a 1600 square-meter commercial building constructed on the southwest corner of the parking lot at the Independent Grocer/Canadian Tire plaza.
As the retailer will be Shoppers Drug Mart, a variance in current zoning regulations was needed to permit a pharmacy to operate at that location.
In addition relief was sought to reduce the required number of loading docks and available bicycle parking spots. Staff did not have any answers to what might become of the current Shoppers, located at McNeely Ave and Lake Ave East.
Council’s committee approved the application.
