A free evening of music in Smiths Falls will support a major health care fundraiser while showcasing local talent.
The Smiths Falls Community Hospital Auxiliary is hosting the Smiths Falls Community Band on May 13 at the Royal Canadian Legion, with donations going toward the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation’s MRI campaign.
Jamie Anderson with the band says the performance is about giving back.
The group has deep roots in the community. Formed in 2005, the band began as a high school reunion project led by longtime music teacher Mr. Smith.
Anderson says after the success of the reunion, Mr. Smith had a proposal.
The band now performs several times a year and continues to grow.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert running from 7 to 8:30. Donations will support bringing MRI services closer to home.
