Safety is a major focus as thousands prepare to attend the Festival of the Maples in downtown Perth on Saturday, April 25th, 2026.
The BIA’s Brian Perkin says a large team works behind the scenes to ensure the event runs smoothly, including support from the OPP, volunteers and local partners.
He says coordination is key when managing crowds that can reach up to 20,000 people in the downtown core.
In addition to police, more than 30 volunteers and hired commissionaires will assist with crowd movement and crossings, especially in busy areas like the Tay Basin.
Perkin says it takes a full community effort adding visitors will notice the strong presence, all designed to keep the day safe and enjoyable.
