The Westport Lumberjacks are calling on community support as their number one fan faces a family crisis.
John Rankin’s wife and mother of four Melissa suffered a previously undigagnosed, ruptured brain aneurysm on Easter morning, and was the family’s sole source of income as a master carpenter.
According to an ongoing GoFundMe, Melissa lost consciousness and was found mid-seizure by her 15-year old.
Rankin is a stay at home dad who drives the school bus part time so he can be home for their youngest child, according to the GoFundMe page.
Director of Social Media and Game Day Operations Manager Justin Alarie says Rankin and daughter Oceania are staples at the sr. hockey club’s contest.
Alarie says the team and the community wants to give back.
