The Salvation Army in Perth and Smiths Falls is putting out a strong call for volunteers as demand for its services continues across the region.
Volunteer Services Coordinator Mary-Lynne Wilson says the organization relies heavily on volunteers to run its thrift stores, community programs and major fundraisers like the annual Kettle Campaign.
She says the need has grown in recent years, especially as long-time volunteers step away.
Wilson says even a few hours a week can make a big difference, whether helping sort donations, stock shelves or assist customers in busy thrift stores.
Beyond retail operations, volunteers also support weekly hot lunches, seasonal programs and emergency assistance for residents facing hardship.
Those interested in volunteering can contact the Salvation Army directly for more information at 613-267-6260 in Perth, or 613-283-8311 in Smiths Falls.
