Police in Smiths Falls say a fraud investigation involving a municipal insurance provider has resulted in a charge.
The Smiths Falls Police Service received information April 21, 2026, about an attempted fraud. Officers launched an investigation and quickly identified a suspect.
Police say the individual later agreed to surrender without incident.
As a result, 38-year-old Brian Stinson of Perth is charged with making a false statement in writing.
He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
