Community support across the region helped make this year’s McHappy Day another major success.
Tim Carter, operator of Carter Foods Ltd., says the 32nd annual McHappy Day raised more than $114,507 through McDonald’s restaurants in Perth, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place and Kemptville.
The money will support families with sick children through programs run by Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, including the Ottawa Ronald McDonald House and Family Rooms at CHEO.
The Ottawa Ronald McDonald House has expanded in recent years to meet increasing demand, adding more suites so more families can stay near CHEO during difficult times.
Family Rooms inside the hospital also provide a place where parents can rest, recharge and remain close to their child’s care team.
Carter says the expansion means they can help even more families.
McHappy Day remains one of McDonald’s Canada’s signature fundraising events and has become a long-standing tradition in communities across the country.
For more than 40 years, McDonald’s Canada has supported Ronald McDonald House Charities, helping families stay close to children receiving medical care far from home.
Carter says the money raised makes a world of difference for those families’ bottom line.
Locally, the annual event continues to draw strong support from residents, businesses and restaurant staff, with Carter Foods once again leading fundraising efforts through its Eastern Ontario locations.
Organizers say every purchase made during McHappy Day helps provide practical support for families facing some of the most stressful moments of their lives.
This year’s total marks another incredible result for the annual campaign, with communities in our listening area helping turn everyday purchases into meaningful assistance for children and families across the region.
