StoneBoat Arts Centre is giving artists from Lanark County and beyond a place to create, rest and connect.
The not-for-profit creative hub is located near Perth, close to Narrows Lock Road. Executive Director Vanessa Nostbakken spoke recently with our Lynda D’Aoust.
Nostbakken says the centre is based on her family’s 150-year-old farm, with 240 acres of land, a barn and several outbuildings.
Nostbakken said the centre is focused on self-directed retreats.
Artists can stay in sleeper cabins and use spaces including a barn with a professional sprung dance floor, a library, a workshop, a cookhouse, a bath house and sauna.
Nostbakken said the centre has already welcomed artists from across Canada and around the world.
Nostbakken adds that she’s happy to work with local businesses too to help each other out.
Retreats cost $100 per person per night, with a bursary program covering up to 75 per cent for artists in need.
