A Kincardine man is finding out the hard way that you don’t avoid a RIDE spot check.
Huron County OPP were conducting one on December 22nd on Josephine Street at B Line Road when an officer noticed a vehicle making a sudden turn as it approached the checkpoint.
The officer jumped into a cruiser and went after the vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped and once the officer spoke with the driver, he was able to detect the smell of alcohol from the driver’s breath.
A roadside test was conducted that resulted in a fail, two more were conducted at the detachment that confirmed the driver was over the legal limit.
The 23-year-old was charged with impaired driving and later released with a court date scheduled for next Monday.
In the meantime, he will be without his licence for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded.
