The third annual Hike for Hospice brought a strong crowd to Perth Sunday, raising about $40,000 for The Hospice Hub.
Executive Director Mary Lou Hussack says the event is about more than money.
Sunday’s event was held on a cool and rainy day, but Hussack says the turnout was still impressive.
Two first-time hikers were also recognized for going above and beyond.
Hussack says George raised more than $7,000, while Tammy raised more than $4,000. Both have deep connections to The Hospice Hub.
The money supports free programs for people who are at end of life, grieving or caring for someone.
Hussack says the organization is also studying whether a future hospice residence is the right next step for the community.
