A Smiths Falls man is facing charges after police say a motorcycle driver fled from officers during a traffic stop attempt.
Smiths Falls police said they received a traffic complaint on May 9 about a potentially impaired motorcycle driver.
Shortly after the complaint, an officer found the motorcycle in the downtown core and tried to stop it. Police said the driver failed to stop and fled.
No pursuit was started because of public safety concerns.
Police said officers continued the investigation and were able to identify the driver. On May 14, the accused surrendered to police without incident.
Justin Donovan-Bioscope, 34, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with flight from a police officer and failing to comply with a probation order.
Police said additional provincial charges were also laid under the Highway Traffic Act.
He was released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.
