Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County is looking for more volunteers, and Executive Director Jennifer Miller says there are several positive ways to help.
Miller says the agency is seeking mentors for a variety of programs, including its Proud program as Pride Month approaches. The program supports young people who want to explore their differences and feel proud of who they are.
Miller says the organization continues to grow with the needs of local youth while staying focused on friendship, connection and support.
Volunteers are also needed at Big Brothers Big Sisters thrift stores in Perth and Smiths Falls. Miller says both stores have paid leadership, but volunteers remain the heart of the operation.
Miller says residents do not need special skills to become a Big Brother or Big Sister. They just need time, kindness and a willingness to connect.
