A long-running family shoe store is bringing new life to a downtown Smiths Falls address.
Scott’s Shoe Store will celebrate the grand opening of its fourth location Saturday, May 30, at 12 Beckwith Street North, the former home of Smiths Shoes.
The arrival is welcome for shoppers. Smiths Shoes closed after more than 75 years in business when owners Cy and Janet Wells retired, leaving a gap downtown for trusted family footwear and personal service.
Nathan Scott says his family understands that local connection. His great-grandfather opened Scott’s Shoe Store in Renfrew in 1895.
Scott says the goal is to offer strong brands at fair prices, but there’s more to Scott’s Shoes.
Scott says proper footwear can make a real difference for people who spend long days on their feet. Supportive, well-fitting shoes can help with comfort, balance and foot health, while poor footwear can add stress to feet, legs and backs.
The opening also has a special local radio connection. Scott’s Shoe Store was the very first customer for My Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of 88.1 myFM and 92.3 WOW FM. The company is now celebrating Scott’s fourth store, calling it a milestone built on local radio, local business and strong community partnerships.
The grand opening runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 12 Beckwith Street North. Scott says they’re looking forward to welcoming the community.
A Blundstone Shoe representative is expected to attend to help answer questions.
Scott says the day is a chance for residents to see the store, meet the team and celebrate a new step forward for downtown Smiths Falls.
