A new Veterans Memorial Crosswalk in Perth is being dedicated after months of planning, teamwork and community support.
The crosswalk, located in town, was championed by Don Rideout, who began pushing the idea forward shortly after Remembrance Day. Rideout said the finished project has exceeded his hopes.
Rideout said he sent his first email about the project on November 12. Since thenmany have helped bring the idea to life in a short time.
The dedication ceremony is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. It will include speeches, Mayor Judy Brown, and MP Scott Reid.
Rideout said many people have called the crosswalk beautiful.
Fundraising continues to help maintain the memorial. A raffle in support of the effort closes Thursday at 5 p.m., with the draw Friday at noon. (See below).
