A wave of community giving is helping the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank keep food on the shelves as demand continues to grow.
Recent public posts from the food bank show several local groups and businesses stepping up with donations of food, money and support. The Loyal True Blue and Orange Home Lodge was thanked for an “incredible donation,” while Westburne was also recognized for a major contribution. The Garden Market donated $5,000 to the food bank, continuing what the organization called a year-round commitment to the community.
Bakers Fries also helped by collecting 288.5 pounds of food and $381 in cash donations. The Royal Canadian Legion Smiths Falls was thanked for a $5,000 donation, while other recent community support has included donations connected to local businesses, service clubs and residents.
The food bank says it relies on donations of food, money and volunteer time to provide safe and nutritious emergency food to families and individuals in need. It serves residents in Smiths Falls, Jasper, Lombardy, Montague Township, Merrickville, Toledo and nearby communities.
The organization says every donation helps, whether it comes from a large group, a local business or one person looking to make a real difference locally.
Anyone able to help is encouraged to contact the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank, donate online, volunteer or support one of its many community collection efforts.
