The Town of Carleton Place says construction crews will remain active at several locations across the community this week.
At the Public Works Yard on Franklin Street, demolition of the old salt shed is well underway. The structure has been removed, with crews now taking out the asphalt pad and foundation to make way for a new salt and sand storage facility.
Road reconstruction work is also progressing on Lake Avenue West and Frank Street. Old asphalt and granular material have been removed and replaced with new base material. Concrete curb and sidewalk work is scheduled for next week, with base asphalt paving possible by week’s end.
Meanwhile, grinding work is beginning on James Street, Joseph Street and Wellington Street, followed by concrete repairs ahead of planned asphalt overlays.
Town officials are asking motorists and pedestrians to avoid construction zones whenever possible, reduce speeds and follow directions from flag crews and posted signage.
