A local author, veteran and adventurer is sharing a positive message about handling hard times and building a life with purpose.
Vickie Lanthier, the author of “High Agency Human”, joined Lynda D’Aoust on “What’s Good” to talk about the new book, her military background and the idea of preparing for life’s challenges before they arrive. She told Lynda how she describes her military career.
Lanthier is also a registered nurse and the creator of Girl Gone Good, a hiking and wellness resource she has operated for nearly 15 years. She says her experiences in the military, nursing and the outdoors helped shape the book’s focus on adventure, adversity and well-being.
The book looks at how people can manage adversity, build protective habits and take a more active role in their own outcomes. Lanthier says one simple place to start is with the way people speak to themselves.
Lanthier also recently spent seven weeks in Albania, where she applied some of the book’s lessons to her own life through routine, travel, fitness and connection.
She says living big looks different for everyone, but for her, it includes meaningful relationships, travel, writing and building a life that feels sustainable.
“High Agency Human” is available through online book retailers and locally at Mill Street Books in Almonte and other area shops.
