At Carleton Place council’s committee meeting of May 26th, Public Works Director Guy Bourgon had some good news for councillors. When tenders were opened for this year’s road projects, the lowest bid came in a $1.625M, considerably less than the $2.7M allocated in the 2026 budget.
Bourgon recommended using a portion of the surplus funds to undertake the reconstruction of two additional roads.
Bourgon suggested repairing College Street between Bridge and Victoria Streets and a section of Rosamond Street at the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail crossing.
Both areas are currently in poor condition and were slated for work in upcoming years. Council approved the projects which will be completed by this fall.
The total estimated costs for both projects was pegged at less than $150,000.
