Ontario Provincial Police have laid a first-degree murder charge in the homicide of a Calabogie woman, following an investigation that also uncovered an alleged threat against a Winnipeg business.
Police say 61-year-old Geraldine Fulcher of Calabogie was found dead at a property on Lanark Road in Greater Madawaska on May 6. Investigators later determined her death was a homicide.
The investigation led police to Winnipeg, where officers were warned the suspect had allegedly threatened a downtown business and its employees and was prepared for a violent confrontation with police.
Winnipeg Police arrested 52-year-old Graham Mlodozenec of Sudbury on May 12 without incident after locating him and his vehicle. Officers say they seized a shotgun, ammunition, additional weapons and three jerrycans of gasoline.
Mlodozenec initially faced several firearm and uttering threats charges in Manitoba. On Monday, June 15, he was transferred into OPP custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Fulcher’s death, along with attempted murder.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on June 22.
Police are not identifying the Winnipeg business, citing employee privacy and the ongoing court process. The homicide and threat investigations continue.
