The Mississippi Mills Public Library is gearing up for a busy summer season with a wide range of activities and programs for children, teens and adults at its Almonte and Pakenham branches.
Registration is now open for the library’s daytime summer programs for kids. Library CEO Berta Madrigal gives us the highlights.
Organizers say programs are tailored by age group and encourage creativity, learning and hands-on fun. The library is also launching its annual TD Summer Reading Club, a free national reading program aimed at keeping kids engaged in reading over the summer months. Participants can set personal reading goals, complete weekly “Monday Missions,” and earn prizes and rewards.
Other summer activities include Makerspace workshops and training sessions focused on STEM and creative technology skills, as well as drop-in chess afternoons, knitting and crochet nights, Spanish conversation groups, movie afternoons and community coffee gatherings.
A very popular feature of the Library is their facility pass lending program which opens a world of museums and nature facilities with just a library card as Madrigal notes.
Library officials say the goal is to offer accessible programming for all ages while helping residents stay connected, creative and active throughout the summer. Full program schedules and registration details are available through the Mississippi Mills Public Library website at missmillslibrary.com.
