Joan Stephenson-Bowes and Mayor Judy Brown, via the Town of Perth
The Town of Perth has named Joan Stephenson-Bowes its 2026 Senior of the Year.
Mayor Judy Brown presented the award at a recent council meeting on behalf of the Province of Ontario and the Town.
Mayor Brown noted how Joan had become part of the fabric of Perth.
Known for her humility and sense of humour, Joan drew laughs when she described herself as a “junior senior.” As one of the partners in Maximilan’s Restaurant, Joan spearheaded the initiative to provide meals at YAK Youth Services. But that wasn’t her only example of giving back to the community she loves. Brown was left breathless by Joan’s activities and listing the organizations she’s helped.
She continues to help with the Hospice Hub and other groups working to improve the lives of others. Her dedication and community spirit continue to make Perth a stronger and more connected place to live.
