A Carleton Place man is facing several charges, including sexual assault, after an intimate partner violence investigation by Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police.
OPP say officers began the investigation on Friday, June 19, after receiving information about allegations of intimate partner violence dating back to 2022.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old man from Carleton Place was arrested and charged with sexual assault, two counts of assault and mischief.
Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The charges have not been proven in court.
OPP and local support agencies say victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault are not alone. Anyone in immediate danger should call 911.
Support is also available through Lanark County Interval House and Community Support. Its 24-hour crisis line can be reached at 613-257-5960 or toll-free at 1-800-267-7946.

The case adds to the ongoing work by police and community agencies to respond to intimate partner violence across Lanark County.
OPP continue to encourage anyone who is in danger, or who knows someone who may be at risk, to reach out for help as soon as it is safe to do so.
