Ron Goebel of the Captain A Roy Brown Branch 192 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Carleton Place and his comrades have come up with a unique and fitting way to pay tribute to local veterans, mark the Legion’s 100th anniversary and celebrate the music of the pipes starting this Friday, June 26th at the Carleton Place Cenotaph in Veterans Memorial Park.
Goebel describes the events and where the idea came from.
The pipes will play every Friday night until September 4th with one or two pipers filling the air with music of remembrance and celebration. The kick off brings something special, Goebel says, thanks to a great partnership with the MacEoin-Ramsay Pipe Band and Branch 192.
Bagpipe music enthusiasts will want to plan to spend a little extra time around the cenotaph on the 26th as the band will run through a regular practise session after their performance to provide a behind the scenes peak of what it takes to make their pipes sing.
Take a moment to reflect, remember, and enjoy this beautiful tradition in our community.
