A Mississippi Mills Township woman is facing several charges after Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police investigated a threats complaint in Carleton Place.
OPP say officers were called to a residence on Friday, June 19, shortly after 2:30 p.m.
Police say the investigation began after a person allegedly caused damage to a door with a weapon while making threats of harm toward a resident.
As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old woman from Mississippi Mills Township has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and mischief for destroying or damaging property.
OPP say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.
The name of the accused is not being released. Police say that is being done to protect the identity of the victim, who is a young person.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Police have not released further details about the weapon or the relationship between the accused and the victim.
The case is one of several recent investigations in Lanark County involving threats, violence or alleged weapons offences.
OPP continue to encourage residents to call police when a situation involves threats, weapons, property damage or concerns for someone’s safety.
