Carleton Place’s newly created Community Services Department has outlined its key priorities through the end of the current council term.
Director of Community Services Diana Knight, who joined the Town in April, says the department will focus on strengthening policies and procedures among other priorities.
Knight says she will also be focused on projects already underway. They include the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, the Carambeck Childcare Expansion, accessibility improvements at the arena, and upgrades to community facilities. Knight listed more in her report to council’s committee
Knight says the department’s long-term strategic direction will be presented to Committee of the Whole in early 2027 after further review of community needs and departmental priorities. Council has already given the go ahead for planning and procurement review of a new $25M recreation facility which will include indoor pools.
