Smiths Falls police are investigating after a body was found near the shoreline along Queen Street on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say officers were called to the area on July 7, 2026, at about 2:50 p.m. after boaters reported finding a body near the shore in Smiths Falls.
Officers were able to recover the body from the water or shoreline area. Paramedics also attended, but police say the person was deceased.
The identity of the person has not been released. Police say they are working with the coroner’s office to determine the cause of death and to notify next of kin.
No other details have been released, including the person’s age, gender or whether the death is considered suspicious.
The discovery drew a police and emergency response to the Queen Street shoreline area Tuesday afternoon as investigators began their work.
Smiths Falls police say the investigation remains ongoing.
