Celtfest, a celebration of historical Celtic traditions and music, wrapped up their 30th edition on Sunday, July 5th. It took place in its usual home, the natural amphitheatre of Gemmill Park in Almonte.
Despite some severe weather that damaged trees and threatened the stage dome a few days before the event, Mother Nature was kind to Celtic fans with sunny skies and moderate temperatures to welcome visitors to what is known as the largest by-donation admission music festival in Canada. One of the organizers, Makayla Moore said immediate feedback has been extremely positive.
The headliner for Saturday night, Leahy, a legendary and most highly regarded group, packed the hill of Gemmill Park with guests from across the region.
Kristina Skeries, of Celtfest, was impressed with the turn-out.
The volunteers behind Celtfest are extremely grateful to the Municipality of Mississippi Mills for their quick and effective clean up work to ensure the Park was as beautiful as always. They’re looking forward to 2027 when they plan on incorporating the 180th anniversary of Irish settlers coming to Canada into their programming.
