Visitors heading to the Stewart Park Festival in Perth will have plenty to enjoy, but organizers say a little planning will help make the weekend smoother.
The festival runs July 17 to 19 in downtown Perth and remains admission by donation. Festival chair Shawn Vermier says the approach helps keep live music open and welcoming to people of all ages and budgets.
Once inside, guests can explore three performance areas.
The main stage is located inside Stewart Park, another stage sits across the river, and additional entertainment will be offered at the Crystal Palace across the street.
Anyone hoping to sit and relax should remember to bring a lawn chair.
Parking close to the festival is limited, and nearby town lots are expected to fill quickly.
A free shuttle will run about every 15 to 20 minutes, with stops at Giant Tiger, Algonquin College and Last Duel Park.
Organizers recommend that local residents walk when possible, while visitors may want to arrange a drop-off near the main gate. Drivers should also expect heavier traffic and delays on Gore Street and surrounding roads.
Crossing guards will be stationed near the main entrances to help pedestrians safely reach the park. Volunteers, first-aid workers and security staff will also be visible throughout the festival and available to answer questions or respond when help is needed during the weekend.
