A local developer has stepped in to help in the construction of new homes in Wingham.
SZAM Capital Partners plan on building a 450-unit residential subdivision in the northeast section of Wingham.
The Maitland Estates development was originally approved by North Huron Council in 2012 but nothing materialized with the original developer.
SZAM’s Principal Partner Doug Cerson says they found out about the development through some business contacts.
Cerson is a Wingham native currently residing in the Waterloo area.
He says with the number of job opening in the area, you need to have new homes for the employees of these businesses.
Cerson says he expects work on Phase One of the subdivision will begin in the fall when servicing is in place and they can start putting shovels in the ground.
