It wasn’t as easy as picking cherries for Huron County OPP but they were able to take an impaired driver off the streets.
They were called about an unrelated incident when they were approached by a man operating a telehandler — or a cherry picker — on Reid Road south of Wingham last Friday night just after 6.
The officer noticed the man was showing signs of impairment and conducted a roadside test which resulted in a fail.
The driver was arrested and taken to the detatchment where two breath tests confirmed the driver was over the legal limit.
A 33-year-old man from North Huron was charged, had his license suspended for 90 days, and was later released with an August 24th court date in Goderich.
The cherry picker was impounded.
