The South Bruce OPP Canada Day Week traffic safety campaign resulted in 170 charges laid against speeding motorists.
The week-long campaign, which wrapped up July 5, was focussed on on safety equipment use along roadways, waterways and trails.
It also targeted inattentive, aggressive and impaired drivers.
In addition to the speeding infractions, officers issued two tickets for alcohol-related offences and another for a seat belt violation.
On the water, the OPP Marine Unit charged one vessel operator for having no safety equipment on board and another was charged with a muffler violation and for operating an unlicensed pleasure craft.
Acting Staff Sergeant Keegan Wilcox, Detachment Manager, South Bruce OPP, noted the campaign may have ended, but “South Bruce OPP will be continuing their dedicated patrols of our roadways, waterways and trails.”
