Lisa Thompson has the upmost confidence Ontario’s back to school plan is solid.
In fact, the Huron-Bruce MPP and former Minister of Education says it’s been “widely recognized as the best in Canada.”
So she’s not incredibly concerned there’ll be a spike of COVID-19 cases in children when classes resume this month, as has been the case in other countries.
That’s also because people have followed the rules since the pandemic began.
The back to school plan was crafted after consultations with the province’s chief medical officer of health, the COVID-19 command table and other health experts Thompson said.
She thinks it’s important to steer clear of “hypothetical situations,” when asked by myFM if there’s a hard number or percentage of positive cases in students which would force a school closure.
