A lack of staff is prompting the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to suspend new admissions to Brucelea Haven.
Officials with the County of Bruce made the request to the Ministry on July 12th after the long-term care facility in Walkerton experienced non-compliance issues such as staffing and care needs.
The County’s Director of Health Services Michael McKeage says despite the challenges staff and residents are facing, everyone seems to be in good spirits.
McKeage says in addition to the temporary suspension of new admissions, a consultant is being brought in to address staffing levels.
He says they have since been able to hire two people to serve as director of care to provide services and support to staff and residents.
