Huron County OPP are investigating what appears to be an attempted child abduction in Wingham.
A group of five children between the ages of 7 and 14 were walking along Shuter Street Thursday afternoon around 4.
One of the children — an 8-year-old — was lagging behind the rest of the group.
That was when police say a white cargo van, with a sliding side door and barn-style rear doors, pulled up next to the child and two occupants came out and tried to grab the child.
The child managed to run away and catch up with the rest of the group.
The van then fled heading north on Shuter Street before going west on Charles Street towards Josephine Street.
Investigators are looking for three male suspects: one wearing a balaclava, black pants and a black shirt, another with greyish hair and dressed in black, and one in his 30’s, with facial hair and wearing a black hat.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Huron County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
