A joint program between the federal and provincial governments means more money to Lanark County’s housing situation.
It’s a combined influx of $825,000 for the county which will service existing affordable housing units and renovate homes for the lucky applicants.
The math of the 430k infusion from the feds works out to $525 per social housing unit in the county after admin fees. The goal is to extend the quality of life of these properties.
From the provincial standpoint, a quarter of a million of the $395,000 is allocated for the Ontario renovation program.
That program is quite popular each year as the money helps residents cover the costs of major renos like new roofing or new windows.
