Ontario’s top doctor says the province’s mask mandate will likely be reviewed in March.
Dr. Kieran Moore made the remarks to reporters during his weekly COVID-19 update Thursday afternoon.
Doctor Moore says the review will be done in the second or third week of March, allowing for data to be studied after the province lifts capacity limits and the proof of vaccination requirement on March 1st.
It was just this week that our Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paula Stewart counted masking as one of the three fundamental ways we can continue to hold COVID spread to low numbers.
Dr. Moore said the mandate will be reviewed for all settings, including public transit and schools.
Ultimately, should the mandate be lifted, individuals can decide for themselves if they would like to keep wearing them, especially those with underlying health conditions that make them more susceptible to the virus and its effects.
