In a show of solidarity, the Town of Smiths Falls will fly the Ukrainian flag in front of town hall for the duration of the Russian invasion.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said the world’s been watching in horror since Russia President Vladimir Putin ordered the assault.
It hits close to home for Pankow, as his grandparents were born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada to flee Russian oppression.
Communities across the country have been showing their support through rallies that have been made of up Ukrainian Canadians and their supporters.
