Multiple reports say masking mandates will come to an end in several settings across the province later this month.
They are not expected to be lifted in high-risk settings though, and when they are it will likely be the decision of the institution in question whether to keep the precaution in place.
Michael Cohen, President & CEO at Perth & Smith Falls District Hospital is weighing in on the decision to keep all public health restrictions in place at both the Perth and Smiths Falls sites of the hospital.
The CEO says its just not time to lift rules like masking and sanitizing.
Cohen says as a health system, thought is being given to what life will be like post-pandemic in a new normal.
He says we’re not there yet, and that new reality will be based on the prevalence of the disease in the community and the burden of illness – the pressure put on the health care system.
That said, he is also thanking all users of the hospital and staff for their incredible cooperation over the course of the pandemic.
