Fraud Prevention Month continues, and our local police want to make sure we’re armed with knowledge so we don’t become victims of one of the most popular types of crime in the world.
Lanark County OPP Constable Joe Tereschuk tells Lake 88 that scams can come from anywhere. When it comes to calls, even numbers that look local could be an oversea scammer.
Be aware of other warning signs too, like people seeking personal information or account numbers as they claim to be from banks or a government department.
The Constable says that if you do become a victim of fraud call your local police and report it.
