The Town of Smiths Falls is implementing development charges as of June 1st.
Lake 88 previously reported on the matter as council was discussing it.
Councillor Peter McKenna wants to clarify not every development will be expected to pay the fees.
McKenna reiterated at the meeting how these additional fees benefit the town.
Development charges are an additional revenue stream used by most municipalities to fund infrastructure projects and manage community growth.
A recorded vote was called with everyone voting in favour except for councillor Niki Dwyer.
