The second phase of the Beckwith Street redevelopment in Smiths Falls is coming along.
Director of Public Works Paul McMunn provided an update to Smiths Falls council this week.
Council also said they will be receiving $750,000 in federal funding, reducing the town’s tab to $1.1 million out of an estimated $5.1 million in phase 2 work.
They also note that sidewalks and businesses are remaining open during construction, and trucks are being detoured around the work in a different manner than passenger vehicles to minimize the delay the work causes.
McMunn explained further.
