The State of Emergency has finally been lifted in the town of Smiths Falls.
It was almost two years ago when Smiths Falls declared a state of emergency because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor Shawn Pankow made the declaration on April 6th 2020 but as of Tuesday morning, it has been lifted.
The Mayor noted there were 78 meetings between then and now with the emergency control group and it was at last week’s meeting they agreed to lift the declaration.
It’s been a tough couple of years for everyone, and Pankow hopes there’s no need to repeat this government procedure in the future.
