Councillor McGuire addresses council
Smiths Falls council wasn’t ready to adopt its first ever parks and recreation master plan as it stood this week.
Following a 9-month crafting process by RC Solutions the plan went to council for final review.
The plan triggered a lengthy discussion, started off by councillor Chris McGuire. He said some areas of the report excite him, but others run into contradictory to itself.
McGuire also referred to what he felt was a lack of information and direction provided in the plan around the largest ticket items.
Those are just two concerns he voiced Monday night and he was followed up shortly after by his colleagues asking their own questions around the report.
They also praised several elements of the report.
The intent this week was to present the plan for final comment and revisions and perhaps adoption later in the night, but the latter will have to wait until the former is complete.
