On Saturday the Hackberry Men’s Shed unveiled their latest project, a half-scale replica of a World War One era Sopwith Camel biplane at the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum.
The model took over 2 years to complete with the help of 20 members of the shed. Men’s Sheds are places to allow men to gather, collaborate, and work on a variety of projects in a goal to fight isolation, loneliness, and depression. The movement is global with over 1,800 facilities helping over 100K men around the world.
The Museum has created a special display running until April 29th with artifacts and memorabilia celebrating Carleton Place native, Roy Brown, the storied pilot credited with downing the Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen in 1918. The Museum is located at 267 Edmund Street in Carleton Place and is open Wednesdays through Saturdays.
