OPP data shows speeding was the number one killer on Ontario roads in 2021.
The force has long said that is preventable, as all drivers need to do is slow down to save lives each year.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt is also worried that changing traffic patterns could lead to an increase in speed-related collisions.
He says even cautious drivers can be caught by surprise.
