More rental units are coming to Smiths Falls.
A 20-unit multiple dwelling stacked townhouse will be constructed by Lépine Corporation at the vacant 40 McGill Street lot.
It will be across from the larger multi-residential development on Thurber Street Lépine is also overseeing.
Councillor Wendy Alford said this part of town is getting a nice facelift because of these developments.
Senior Planner Karl Grenke said its near-downtown location will provide a boost to local businesses.
The land was the old parking lot for the now demolished South Unit hospital site.
There was no word on whether any of the units would be geared to income or considered affordable housing units to address the lack of such units in the region.
