The NDP has named a local candidate for June’s provincial election.
Christopher Wilson will vie for the seat in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.
Wilson says his campaign will focus on solutions to things we can mostly agree on; affordable housing, anti-corruption, environmental protection, lower cost of living, healthcare reform, improved education, senior care reform, equality and fairness for all.
He released a statement saying in part, “Our province, country, and frankly the entire world, has entered a new age. With the threats of pandemics, climate change, rising wealth inequality and unaffordable housing, we no longer have the luxury select leaders who are not willing to sacrifice for the greater good. We cannot accept leaders who look to divide us to keep power. We must work to unite, as working class citizens of one of most prosperous places on earth, to fight against greed and corruption that seeks to separate us.”
He’ll be taking on incumbent and current Minister of Rural Affairs and Housing Steve Clark, and Liberal Josh Bennet. The Green Party of Ontario has yet to officially announce their candidate.
Lake 88 will interview each candidate a number of times before the planned vote in late spring.
