Carleton Place councillors received some good financial news at their meeting this week.
In her regular chief administrative officer’s report, Diane Smithson pointed out some early cost savings on substantial projects.
The town had budgeted $406K for repairs and renovations to the town hall this year, but the final bids came in almost $174K lower.
Other areas such as road maintenance, facility repairs, and even the purchase of a gas/electric hybrid truck, achieved similar results.
However, Smithson cautioned that when working with older infrastructure such as the town hall for example, surprises can come.
