The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced the Homelessness Prevention Program last month. It is now set up in Lanark County.
The HPP (as its known) consolidates the CHIPI, Initiative Home for Good, and the Strong Communities Rent Supplement Programs.
The $1.5 million program is funded entirely by the province. County Housing Services Manager Shawna Stone broke down how the money is allocated.
When it comes to those who are accessing emergency shelter, Housing Services Manager Shawna Stone said they’re seeing improved trends.
The county will continue to help cover supportive housing, emergency shelter, and community outreach services through the HPP.
